Also speaking as a Doctor of Medical Qigong- we use special protocols specific to the disharmony- or disease. We have various as there is types of cancer protocols, parkinsons protocols, siatica protocols, diebetes, high blood pressure and the list is endless. The only thing we do not treat is pregnant women. We also work with people with psychological illnesses diagnoses. And when the client is finished with the session they recieve prescription homework- not drugs or herbs--- but specific meditiations or specific exercises depending on the specific condition....to continue the treatments effectiveness. The treatment will generally last for 3 days and energetic matrix will be extended if the client does the homework perscription. Ideally the client is very much a part of their own healing process with conscious effort and accountable for their life and the patterns that led them to become out of balance. There is alot of emotional work for some people that is part of the sessions for many people as well as spiritual growth. Everyone comments on how relaxed they feel and it is always important to not have anything to do after a session for the rest of the day. Its a profound experience and I am very honored to be in the field and a graduate directly under Sifu Dr Jerry Alan Johnson- founder of the International Institute of Medical Qigong. -- hope this helps. Dr. Amba Dryg DMQ www.sitmonterey.com

Thanks for this great article. It is really nice to have it explained in this manner. I love this paragraph in particular:

It is like being bilingual and understanding the communication both in
English and in Chinese at the same time without having to translate. The
body speaks all these languages and will recognize what language(s) the
practitioner is able to speak and properly and will interface with the
therapist accordingly. The practitioner will offer skills, but it is the
body that will decide if it can trust the validity and the coherence of
the process.

So amazing what the body can do. You have also stimulated my curiosity about medical qi gong. Great image as well.
