TALKING AND LISTENING TO OUR GUT. OUR GUT-BRAINS ARE SMART
BY DR. CLOE COUTURIER AND TRISH JUEN
So now you are probably wondering: “are my guts smart?”
They sure are!
The last class I attended was: “Listening to the Second Brain – The Enteric Nervous System,“ taught by Nikki Kenward CST-D. The more advanced CranioSacral therapy classes are rich in new development. This particular class is important to me as it is bridging the ancient teachings of Eastern with newly discovered Western Science. It deals with “the intelligence of the gut.”
Western science is evolving and supporting ancient teachings from the East.
Can you believe that only a few months ago they discovered a new organ in the body?
Just recently, Dr. Coffey, MD put into evidence the mesentery as a new organ.
The emergence of the “enteric brain as the second brain” just a couple of decades ago substantially supports the work and research of Dr. Michael D. Gershon as well as the Poly Vagal Theory by Dr. Stephen Porges.
Delving deeper into deciphering the language or our central intelligence teaches us how we can better work with our bodies in bridging our inner world.
This information further supports the principle both for self-care and self-healing and teaches us how we can work with and influence the inner intelligence of our autonomic nervous system. Medical Qigong and CranioSacral therapy can help empower our health.
So the enteric brain and the mesentery discoveries are getting closer to describing the lower Dantien. The lower Dantien is at the foundation of medical Qigong and goes back thousands of years.
With craniosacral therapy, we learn how to work with our bodies in better relating to our intelligence at work. Then, we can better help others most effectively. It represents a big part of the learning process which takes place within the hub of craniosacral therapy.
How fascinating to learn that we can talk to our (self) cells, our organs and any part of our bodies and brains. How amazing to better understand the breadth of choices that may be dormant within our consciousness. This awakening brings a new light of possibilities for our greater health.
The polyvagal theory is also more recent information on how we can relate to our internal world in relationship with the external world. The inner world is a microcosm of the external world at play in our lives.
We filmed this clip spontaneously during our class lunch break as it clearly describes how we can talk to our ventral vagal system.
I met Trish Juen, BCTMB, during class; she came from Minnesota (http://www.trishjuen.com). Take a listen. Trish describes well how she was able to move through a challenging gut (enteric brain) experience in talking with her ventral vagal system.
The ventral vagal system relates to the emotional regulation and the flight-or-flight response.
Craniosacral therapy is an educational process. We get to become familiar with our internal milieu, and how to better self-regulate. It gives us access to a greater sense of wellness and wellbeing.
Each session is an opportunity for our self-discovery process.
